This is banking.

One moment you were minding your own business, doing your daily work and the next moment, you were told that branch manager from another branch will pull 3 over.

Then BAM!! You were one of them. You were told to pack up and report to your new branch the next day.

Shocked. I was definitely confused. I love my colleagues from the previous branch. We were close and we definitely bonded like family. Whenever I was demoralized, I could turn to Edmund, who was always there to guide me along. Whenever I was down, there was Sek Ling, who was like a dearest sister. And there was Nat, who never fails to make you laugh. And the backroom ppl, who were always there to cover up for your little mistakes here and there. I guess the consolation is that my 2 best buddies are going with me.

Jurong is like home, comfortable as it is, I'm now going to the real world out there. I know that this is a great opportunity for career progression. And as Edmund says it's a good path that was planned for me.

I'm reporting to Bukit Timah from now on.

I'll never forget the Jurong guys. Keep in touch.

Missing You...

Man tend to take things for granted.

He's always around me, yet I took little notice of him.

At the Crossroads

Came to the crossroads today.

All of a sudden, I was unsure of the route I was taking all along.

Should I go on - Journey seems too hard to take on.

Should I turn back - The road travelled would have been wasted.

Should I take on other routes - That's not where I want to go.

Went JB with my two of my collegaues some time back in November. For the food of cos!

Late post again. But still, the Wei-Ling-way... Better late than never mah!! Hee.

We went in the afternoon with our dear Geoffrey driving us around. Thanks Geoff!

First stop was at this fantastic bak kuh teh shop. Geoff tells us that the rating for this is only average, but it's not.

It's awesome!!

Rested at Geoff's house for a while before we proceed to this Mega Ria for seafood.

SCB Dinner and Dance 2007

Last post was 30 August and that was freaking 3 months ago.

Cause of this? WORK!

Hell, yes! Almost 12 hours everyday and (here I go again) lots & lots of challenges and dilemmas. I shall not go into what I've come across so far but I'm still happy, of course, cause I see where I'm heading to.

DnD was held few weeks ago at Suntec Convention Hall. Lots of fun definitely! And I shall let the pictures do the talking...

The Pride of Chia Family

The Chia Family is glad to present the following family member as he has done us proud!!

Sis enrolled Lion (Yes, that's my dog's name.. But I didn't name him!) in a Fastest Eater Competition organized by Singapore Kennel Club at Expo over the weekend. Friends who have seen him at my place will never ever doubt his speed man!

And yes.. he came in 2nd! Haha!

Fun time!

Yeap, we're hard at work. Training is definitely tedious.. which is why we never let go of any chance to have fun.

We had 3 days off on Week 5 as our dear trainer hurt his leg. Still required to report to work but we surely know how to "utilize" our precious time.. Hee Hee..

So, whose work can be as relaxed as ours??!! Haha..

Eversince I got to know Geoffrey, I've been putting on weight (Thanks to him and I mean it la!). Reason being.. he's been bringing us everywhere for nice food. Hence, every week, one clique of us will have dinner at a designated place. Last week, it was Samba Brazilian Steakhouse Churrascaria at Katong Village.

Brazilian BBQ buffet and chefs would serve different types of meat and skewers from which they slice portions onto the plate. My personal favourite would be the Beef Topside with Garlic (Alcatra Alho). Yummy!

Dinner's great... and as expected, we went for our usual chill-outs. This time, Geoffrey brought us to Blue Jazz. Nice ambience for frenz to catch up.

2 Cleared! 4 More To Go!

I cleared my 2nd paper on Friday. Really glad that things are going rather smoothly. 4 more major papers to go, though next week's gonna have TONS of internal tests every single day. I didn't study hard during my uni days so now I'm paying every single bit back. Haha.

After the exam, some were happy to have cleared, but some were feeling restless as they had to retake. Despite this, all were spotaneous enough to drop by Ice Cold Beer for a quick drink.
I would say my bunch of colleagues are really good drinkers, unlike me. Friends who know me really well will know that I'm the most terrible drinker. Hee Hee. Though I can never keep up with the number of drinks they had, it was a rather good bonding session.

Perhaps, cafes and places to chill are the in thing now. You can never seem to miss that out on your itinerary for any gatherings. Dave brought the s04 gang to this nice place along Devonshire Road.

Nice ambience, nice band and the nicest company. What else are you missing out in life? =)

Home on a Tuesday Afternoon..

Very surprised to see me blogging on a Tuesday afternoon?

I'm on mc for two days.. which is why I could find time to do some blogging.

3rd week into training and I would say I'm starting to get used to it. Afterall, I'm doing what I normally do in school, attending classes and studying for exams.

Trainer always repeat this "You guys better enjoy while u can, life's gonna be hell when you are deployed to your branches".

Oh man! -_-"

Sometimes, classes can get quite boring, and on several occassions, I spotted my colleague falling asleep! Haha, Desmond, I'm gonna blackmail u!!

Last week, one segment of our training program requires us to mystery shop. It was fun and exciting but when you are actually doing it, you can get real nervous! And we realize that it was so damn difficult to lie!! Though we gave ourselves away, still, it was something different to experience. =)

Will be going back to work tomorrow. And, it's another brand new day.

Knock Knock.. Is Wei Ling there?

Yup Yup. Still kicking and alive. Haha.

For all you know, I've started my training for a week.

I would say, not easy.

Honestly.

And, seriously.

Now, I do understand why 2 months of training are needed. Prior to this, I did not expect my job scope to encompass so much stuffs to learn. There are so many things you have to know, so many criterias to memorize, so much calculations to do and a lot of things to expect from when you are officially on the job.

On top of that, we will be tested once training on one product is over and I freaked out when I learned that passing is not 50, but 80! Being so used to the bell curve grading in NUS, it's disappointing to know that the real world is bell-curve-no-more! Which means, pass means pass, fail means fail. Hence, even though I had bid farewell to all my textbooks, I went back to them again every night after work. (Yes, coming from Chia Wei Ling!) Adding to the load, I need to clear 6 MAS papers within these 2 months. Yes, more studying again.

I still feel like an undergrad.

Enough of rants, now the positive things. Colleagues are great! Fun, friendly, nice bunch. People from all walks of life. Those in the managerial positions are nice enough to share with me what I have to expect, know and do. Trainer, very charismatic guy - He's really good & knows everything at the back of his hand. I can understand why he's so successful in this line.

To be honest, I would say I have underestimated my job scope and the amount of stress I will be facing. But no worries, I am enjoying. Challenges add value to my life. =)

I chose this path, I'll finish it victoriously.

I'm undefeated.
